Ottumwa swimmers prepare for state

For the first time since Grant Gullion made the state tournament in 2013, Ottumwa will be back in Marshalltown this weekend.

The Bulldogs 200 Medley Relay and 200 Freestyle Relay both qualified for the 2017 state tournament.

The 200 Medley, consisting of sophomores Cameron Keck, Hank Hammer, Jackson Weaton and senior Ryley Robinson finished in 1:41.79 in the district meet to qualify,

The 200 Freestyle Relay of Hammer, Weaton, Robinson and senior Tomas Langland finished in 1:30.26 at districts to qualify.

Doors open at 11:30 and the meet is scheduled for an estimated start at 12:30pm. The 200 Medley Relay starts the day as the first event. The 200 Freestyle relay is the eighth event. Here is the heat and lane assignments for Saturday.

Ottumwa last won a state title in the 200 Freestyle in 2003 by Jeff Bratten.
