It’s that time of year when athletes are choosing their next destination. That's what Ottumwa senior Jaylin Carter did.

The senior is headed to Iowa Central for basketball. This past season, the guard-forward hybrid was third on the team in scoring with 7.3 points per game and led the squad with 46 assists. She finishes her career with 439 career points, 262 rebounds and 90 assists.

She was a part of a senior class that finished with a winning record for the first time since 2012 at 14-8. She'll take that growth to the next level.

“It’s been a great experience. There’s been ups and downs but through it all, I’ve enjoyed it. I’m ready for the next level. And I’m super excited to join my fellow teammates at Iowa Central next year.”

She knows what she'll be studying as well, Carter will go into communications.
