Pekin's Tyler Copeland signs to Morningside College
PEKIN, Ia. - Another Pekin signing this spring. Panthers senior Tyler Copeland is headed to Morningside College in Sioux City. His brother Chase is already a Mustang.
Two seasons ago, the two combined for more than 1800 yards on the ground and 20 touchdowns. Copeland was in the backfield again this year amassing nearly 500 yards and five touchdowns.
For the Mustangs, Copeland expects to move to the other side of the football playing defensively. While they may be on different sides of the ball he's exciting to be reuniting with his brother on the gridiron.
“It’s pretty cool knowing that I’ll be with my brother up there at morning side at a good football program. I love football and that's what I’ve always wanted to do is play at the next level it should be a fun time. Knowing that I could go up there and play it’s an awesome deal,” said Copeland.
This past year Copeland had 25.5 tackles and three sacks for Pekin. His brother Chase redshirted last year due to injury, so the two could graduate together as well. Copeland is leaning towards studying business.
He joins fellow Panthers who signed to collegiate schools. Zach Conger, Shea Dahlstrom and Malcolm Myers all signed to Hawkeye CC earlier this spring.
