Truman State women's basketball to face McKendree Thursday

Truman will put their seven-game winning streak over McKendree University on the line when the two teams meet in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game on Thursday night at the Melvin Price Convocation Center in Lebanon, Illinois.

The Bulldogs have not lost to the Bearcats since joining the GLVC and have won seven straight dating back to 1988.

They are 12-1 all-time against McKendree including last year's 73-64 victory. In that game, former Bulldog Cassidy Clark was 9-of-11 from the field for 21 points and pulled down eight rebounds and was joined in double-figures by current players Rachel Edmundson (15) and Brooke Bailey (11).

The Bulldogs won their league opener on Saturday against the University of Missouri-St. Louis 71-66 while McKendree dropped their first conference game to nationally-ranked Drury 75-57 on the road.

Light December Schedule:

Truman is playing only four times in the month of December with three of the games taking place in the first seven days. The Bulldogs will be off for 12 days following Thursday's game at McKendree then off for 16 days when they return from the holiday break to resume conference action against Missouri S&T on January 4.

About the Bulldogs:

Truman is 5-2 on the young season and are winners in their last two games. The Bulldogs are coming off a 57-point rout over Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) College on Monday night. The bench scored 50 points in the 80-23 win with Tiffany Davenport and Sam Andrews leading the charge with 11 points apiece. Truman won the glass by a 52-23 margin.

Freshman Katie Jaseckas and senior Ashley Hartwig leads the team in scoring and are the only two players averaging over 10 points per game. Jaseckas (10.9) and Hartwig (10.3) have both scored in double-figures in four of the seven games this season and each are pulling down five rebounds or more per night.

Brooke Bailey and Remy Davenport led the team in three-point shooting with 11 apiece. Both have identical 37% shooting from beyond the arc while Remy's sister Tiffany has the best three-point shooting percentage on the team at 69%, making nine of 13 attempts.

Truman is averaging 70.6 points per game while giving up 56.3. They are shooting 40% overall, 33% from three and 79% from the free throw line. Opponents are shooting 37% from the field, 33% from three and 76% from the line.

The Bulldogs are 46-27 all-time in the GLVC and 19-17 in conference road games. Last year, Truman was 5-4 in league games away from Kirksville. On Thursday GLVC road games last season, the Bulldogs were 2-2 with wins at Illinois Springfield and Maryville and losses to Rockhurst and Lewis.

Bearcat Bits:

McKendree had dropped four straight since winning their opener against Blackburn (Ill.) 88-44…all four losses have come against Division II teams (70-63 vs. Upper Iowa; 72-54 vs. Winona State; 77-68 vs Lindenwood and 75-57 vs. Drury)…all four losses have come on the road as this will be only the second home game for the Bearcats…Jordan Heberg leads the team in scoring at 11.4 points per game and has a team-high eight steals…three players have started all five games for the Bearcats, Heberg, Madison Hart and Callie Pohlman…McKendree was 10-18 overall last season and 1-17 in the GLVC, their lone conference win came at home against Saint Joseph's 63-54 on January 21…they have lost their last 11 GLVC games.

Series w/McKendree:

Truman is 12-1 all-time against McKendree and have won the last seven meetings. They have played four GLVC games since 2014 with Truman winning each and played two non-conference games prior to the Bulldogs joined the league in 2012.

The series was idle from 1989-2012.
