The Kiwanis Club of Kirksville Farmers’ Market will be open every Saturday morning starting May 6th, 2017 through October 28th, 2017. The Farmers’ Market opens at 7:00 AM and closes at Noon. The market is open to the public and the items available will include fruits, vegetables, plants, baked products, eggs, meats, crafts, and many others. All products are locally grown or produced.

Villages Folk School Annual Spring Lawn Party
Join the Villages Folk School and their many talented artists at their Annual Memorial Day Weekend BBQ beginning at 5:00pm! There will be a Plein Air Quick Paint Contest through the Van Buren County Arts Council. Participants must register in advance for the outdoor painting contest. Several local artisan-made items will be auctioned off throughout the evening. Bring your lawn chair and join the fun under the BIG TENT near the Keosauqua Bridge!

American Home Finding Ribeye Steak Sandwich Dinner to kick off the 40th Annual Ottumwa Pro Balloon Races.
Jimmy Jones Shelter in Greater Ottumwa Park.
4:30-7pm. The menu includes: Ribeye steak sandwich, baked beans, coleslaw, drink and dessert. Cost of the dinner is $10.00.
Community members are invited to either eat at the shelter or drive through and pick up your dinner to go. Entertainment will be provided by the Lowly Brass, an instrumental group that will perform during the dinner.
American Home Finding is a non-profit agency that serves children and families in Southeast Iowa. Tickets will go on sale starting June 1st from any American Home Finding staff member or calling the main office at 641.682.3449. Tickets will also be available at the event

Alligator wrestling will be the featured attraction at this years Cantril Dayz Celebration. Croc Encounters from Tampa, FL will present an Alligator Wrestling Show like no other! In addition to the shows, there will be other reptiles on display, a tortoise pen and a photo booth to get your picture taken with a live 2’ or 4’ alligator. Cost of the event is Free Will Donation. Show times will be scheduled Friday night and throughout the day on Saturday. In addition there will be kids activities throughout the day on Saturday, Parade @ 6 pm on Saturday & Twin States Truck & Tractor pull on Saturday night @ 6:30 and fireworks at dusk.

Ottumwa War Memorial Park at the Jimmie Jones Shelter, Ottumwa, Ia.
Registration will begin at 9 am. We will have activities for everyone and a ceremony followed by the walk at 10:30 am. The walk will be 2 miles in length. To register for the walk ahead of time visit or call 1.800.272.3900. You may join a team that is already registered or you may start a team of your own. There is no registration fee, but we do ask that you ask for donations that will be used for support, care, and research. The funds will be used locally.

9th Annual disABILITY Awareness Day Conference

It is an annual conference that brings together self-advocates, family members, friends, direct support staff, providers, teachers, employers, and professionals to gather information that will support people with disability to be more independent. Whether that is being employed, living independently, married or owning a home. The conference committee seeks out presenters, exhibitors, and self-advocates that promote these topics, so others with disabilities will see anything is possible.
