The northeast Missouri Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration, “E Pluribus Unum” which is Latin for “Out of Many, One”, and fundraiser for Take Root Cafe downtown Kirksville, Mo. will celebrate the civil rights and social justice legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. on Saturday January 20, 2018 from 1-4 PM at Take Root Cafe. The 3 hour free event will include multicultural (unity and social justice themed) arts and crafts for children and families, an arts for social justice theater performance, music, a “health, peace, and unity” family yoga session, and displays and posters related to our inclusion theme.

Outdoor Viewing of Bald Eagles in their Natural Habitat, Mississippi Riverfront, Keokuk, Iowa.
Personnel from the Lee County Iowa Conservation Board, Iowa DNR & the US Army Corps of Engineers will staff viewing points. Spotting scopes are available free of charge.

American Home Finding Association welcomes the public to attend its’ 7th Annual Chocolate Lovers Benefit
Hotel Ottumwa, Ottumwa, Iowa 7pm. American Home Finding’s Annual Benefit helps raise money to serve children and families in Southeast Iowa.
This year’s theme is: Alice in Wonderland. The event will be held from 7pm to 11:30pm at the Hotel Ottumwa. There will be a silent auction, featuring the work of many local artists, as well as, many other fabulous items from 7pm -10pm. Entertainment at this year’s event includes the band Sez Who from 8pm -11:30pm.
Cost for this event is only $25.00 per person or $45.00 a couple if tickets are purchased before January 26th. After that time, tickets will be $30.00 a person or $50.00 a couple.

Iowa Wesleyan University welcomes artist David Fleming from Fairfield, Iowa as our featured artist in the P.E.O Building Art Gallery from January 29 to March 23, 2018. An artist reception will be held February 21 at 12:10 pm in the Art Gallery for a meet and greet with the artist.
The Art Gallery is open to the public from 8 am – 5 pm Monday through Friday and is located at 601 N. Main Street, Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
