April Reminisce Society we will be hosting Rosemary Harris as she portrays one of Iowa’s women of history. Ola Babcock Miller established the Iowa State Patrol when she was Iowa's first woman to serve as Secretary of State. Join us to learn more about “The Mother of the Iowa Highway Patrol” and her groundbreaking tenure as Secretary of State. The presentation will be held at the KC Hall (behind the library) and will begin at 10 am.
Harris is from Columbus Junction, IA and is a former teacher. She travels the state and portraying many different women from throughout Iowa’s history.

Autism Awareness Safety Day!

We are providing individuals with autism and their families/caregivers/staff the opportunity to meet local Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Personnel!
Participating agencies are: Kirksville Police Department, Kirksville Fire Department, Adair County Sheriff’s Department, Adair County Ambulance District, Air-Evac
Parents/Staff will be provided with: Information on safety options, The National Autism Association BE REDY Booklet
We will also have giveaways, refreshments, activity table and a raffle for donated prizes!
All raffle proceeds will go towards purchasing safety identification items for local individuals with autism and their families.

Decoding Dyslexia Iowa invites youth with dyslexia ages 8 and up to an afternoon at the Iowa Children’s Museum
11am - 2pm
The event includes lunch, a program, and free time at the museum. The program will feature adults with dyslexia who will share their experiences and answer questions from the kids. This event is only for youth with dyslexia, and at least one parent must attend. The cost is $5 per child, and all youth who register before April 15th will receive a free dyslexia awareness t-shirt. Please join in this anticipated event known as one of Iowa’s first great spring races. The Klompen Classic 5K is a race with a special purpose. Revenue funds programs through Crossroads of Pella that support thousands of area children and families. Doors open at 6:00pm with the show starting at 7pm.
The ticket cost is $20.00 before the event or $25.00 at the door.
Ottumwa Youth Baseball and Babe Ruth invites the public to attend and support Ottumwa Baseball for youth ages thirteen to fifteen. This is a benefit that will help defray the cost of playing baseball for youth in Ottumwa. Midwest Dueling pianos has generously offered to donate all of the tips that night to the cause.
There will be hourly raffles and cash prize giveaways.

Alligator wrestling will be the featured attraction at this years Cantril Dayz Celebration. Croc Encounters from Tampa, FL will present an Alligator Wrestling Show like no other! In addition to the shows, there will be other reptiles on display, a tortoise pen and a photo booth to get your picture taken with a live 2’ or 4’ alligator. Cost of the event is Free Will Donation. Show times will be scheduled Friday night and throughout the day on Saturday. Registration will begin at 9 am. We will have activities for everyone and a ceremony followed by the walk at 10:30 am. The walk will be 2 miles in length. To register for the walk ahead of time visit or call 1.800.272.3900. You may join a team that is already registered or you may start a team of your own. There is no registration fee, but we do ask that you ask for donations that will be used for support, care, and research. The funds will be used locally.

9th Annual disABILITY Awareness Day Conference

It is an annual conference that brings together self-advocates, family members, friends, direct support staff, providers, teachers, employers, and professionals to gather information that will support people with disability to be more independent. Whether that is being employed, living independently, married or owning a home. The conference committee seeks out presenters, exhibitors, and self-advocates that promote these topics, so others with disabilities will see anything is possible.
