The annual Drive-Thru Flu Clinic took place on Wednesday afternoon.

Administrator of Adair County Health Department, Jim Lebaron says the department has been administering drive-thru clinics for about 12 years now.

Last year, 2 locations gave around 1,300 shots.

Lebaron says this year they plan on exceeding those numbers.

While the main purpose of the clinics is to protect community members from the flu, Lebaron says drive-thru clinics also allow community members to participate in an emergency preparedness exercise.

The idea was you wouldn’t want to have people congregate if we had an infectious disease in our community.

The clinic was available in three locations, Novinger, Brashear and NEMO fair grounds.
