The 2017 "Buddy Walk" brought out a large crowd on Saturday morning at the Kirksville High School.

The walk benefits the Buddy Pack Program, which provides meals for students in need, throughout the school year and during weekends.

Currently, the program, which is a part of the Food Bank of Missouri, serves 7,500 student in 32 counties in Missouri.

"Food insecurity is such a prevalent issue in our community, and this program is notorious for making sure kids get what they need," said program volunteer Jace Galang.

According to Regional Coordinator for the Food Bank Cheri Coin, it only takes $180 feed a child every weekend throughout the year with this program.
