3-car pileup near Ottumwa slows afternoon commute
NEAR OTTUMWA, Iowa —
Three drivers walked away from a serious pileup near Ottumwa Wednesday.
Wapello County deputies were called to the crash on Highway 63, at the Chillicothe turn off around 12:30 p.m.
The driver of a white station wagon, Doris Williams, of Eddyville, tells KTVO she was on her way to work, going south on Highway 63 when she collided with crossing traffic and struck a stop sign.
Wapello County Chief Deputy Don Phillips told KTVO at the scene that the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu pulled into Williams' path. He said the two collided, and then struck a third car on Eddyville Road.
Investigators said the driver of the Malibu will be cited for failing to yield to oncoming traffic.
Only minor injuries were reported in the crash. Phillips said everyone was treated and released at the scene.
