AHFA turns Hotel Ottumwa into a Winter Wonderland
OTTUMWA, Iowa —
Christmas is about three weeks away and The American Home Finding Association turned Hotel Ottumwa into a winter wonderland.
The second floor of the historic hotel was flooded with joy and children. There were many vendor tables that were there for visitors to start their holiday shopping if they have not already. Different groups of American Home Finding Association decorated different trees throughout second floor of the hotel.
Children attending were able to enjoy a free hot chocolate bar as they wrote letters to Santa Claus. Some children even had the opportunity to meet and take pictures with Santa.
Kobly Streeby, a youth counselor at Ottumwa High school gave us more insight on what the purpose was behind this event.
This event is to do fundraising for American Home Finding. American Home Finding does a lot in the community and we are apart of WIC which is Women, Infants, and Children, we have the Teen Outreach Program, the Agency Shelter, AMP, and we have several different involvement in this community so this fundraiser is for the children basically" said Kobly
American Home Finding Association has been working diligently on this event for two months. They said they were very proud how this event turned out for the first time.
