The Ameren Missouri BizSavers Program team has helped Kraft Heinz achieve over $1 million in incentives at the company's newly expanded processing plant in Kirksville.

The partnership identified ways of making more than 300,000 square feet of the facility more energy efficient by installing LED lighting and motor controls, while optimizing compressed air systems throughout the facility.

Ameren's BizSavers program offers cash incentives and assistance to customers for improving energy efficiency.

In 2016, Ameren Missouri customers saved more than 52 million kilowatt hours of energy through efficiency projects, and earned more than $3.6 million in cash incentives.

BizSavers Program Specialist, Marco Tipton, told KTVO why this program helps customers.

"This definitely helps our customers really try to update their equipment, to have energy efficient equipment, to reduce their energy load and so we as a company are pretty excited about that, and that's why we're here today," Tipton said.

*An earlier version of this story contained a typo, saying Ameren customers saved more than 52 kilowatt hours through energy efficiency projects. While technically true, the figure falls well short of the 52 million kilowatt hours that were actually saved in 2016.
