Baby girl found dead in northern Missouri home

Authorities are investigating a baby death in northern Missouri.

Around 10 a.m. Monday, authorities received a 911 call from a residence in the 300 block of Main Street in Rothville in Chariton County.

When investigators arrived, they discovered a two-month-old baby girl dead inside the home. Officials would not say if the infant lived at that residence.

Authorites then obtained a search warrant for the home.

No names are being released at this time. An autopsy is planned for the near future.

Because it is an active investigation, officers are not releasing any details about the circumstances of the death.

The Chariton County Sheriff's Office is being assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control.

Officials said there is no danger to the community.
