Brookfield boy with flu dies over weekend
BROOKFIELD, Mo. —
A young northern Missouri boy died over the weekend, and investigators say they think the flu is to blame.
Linn County Coroner Kenny Creason told KTVO Monday that Jayden Royal, 11, of Brookfield, Missouri, was pronounced dead just before 4 a.m. Saturday in the emergency room at Pershing Memorial Hospital.
Creason said Royal had started coming down with the flu last Wednesday.
When his mother checked on him around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, the boy was found unresponsive at the family's home.
She started CPR on Royal until emergency crews could get there.
The boy was then taken by ambulance to the hospital where he died about half an hour later.
An autopsy was planned for late Monday morning.
Creason said no foul play is suspected.
