Burglary suspect shoots himself after being approached by police
LaGrange, MO. —
A burglary suspect is now in serious condition after shooting himself fleeing from police.
Since the beginning of April, authorities have received multiple reports of break-ins and burglaries in and around Canton, Mo.
Lewis County Deputies were able to identify a suspect, 20-year-old Austin D. Clark of LaGrange, Mo., on Friday.
When authorities were in route to Clark's home, deputies located the suspect walking along Monroe St. in LaGrange.
Authorities approached Clark, but he then ran and took out a handgun out of his waistband and shot himself as he was running.
Emergency responders were called to the scene and the suspect was taken to the hospital.
Upon further investigation, two stolen handguns were located at the scene.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Division and Drug and Crime Control is assisting with the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing.
