Centerville PD: Man assaults 2 victims with baseball bat

Joseph Allen Bower Jr., 23/KTVO

A Centerville man is facing felony charges this week, after police say he broke into a nearby home and assaulted two men with a baseball bat.

Court records show Joseph Allen Bower Jr., 23, and four accomplices broke into a house on West Maple Street, held both victims down to the floor and struck them several times with a baseball bat.

Police say the victims, who were brothers, sustained bruising and lacerations to their head and back.

Bower is charged with First-Degree Burglary, Assault While Participating in a Felony and Going Armed with Intent.

Police Chief Tom Demry wasn’t immediately available Wednesday to say if charges have been filed against the other four suspects.

Bower remains in custody at the Appanoose County Jail on a $35,000 bond.
