Despite rumors, the City of Unionville is not doing away with its police force.

The building that was home to the Unionville Police Department is being sold.

Unionville Mayor Charlie Pittman told KTVO on Thursday the department has moved to what he called “dead space” in Unionville City Hall to free up city funds.

Pittman went on to say this is a "minor part of city business," and the money saved by the move will be used elsewhere.

Pittman said the city is actively seeking another officer to add to its police force.

The police department's move to city hall happened in early November.
