City of Kirksville honors former city attorney with resolution
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
Kirksville city council members spent a portion of a recent meeting honoring former City Attorney Howard Hickman.
Hickman passed away in February.
Monday night, council members approved a resolution honoring Hickman for 38 years of service to the City of Kirksville and its citizens.
According to city documents, Hickman started as an assistant city attorney in January 1980.
He then became the city attorney in August 1981.
The resolution approved by council read in part:
"Howard Hickman was well respected by peers, colleagues and the community, with a robust legal mind and a consistent and practical mentality, all of which enabled him to quickly resolve many obstacles for the city before escalation. Howard Hickman's loyal, considerate and reliable nature made him a valuable asset and a strong supporter to the City of Kirksville."
Members of Hickman's family were in attendance at the meeting on Monday.
They thanked the city council and staff for the special honor and remembrance.
