The 3 hour event will include multicultural arts and crafts for children and families, an arts for social justice theater performance, music, A "Health, Peace and Unity" family yoga session and displays and posters related to the theme.
The fundraiser will also include a silent auction, personal donations and a bake sale.
Take Root is a organization that helps "alleviate hunger and promote health by offering local food on a pay what you can basis.
Statewide Martin Luther King commissioner Bertha Thomas told KTVO why this event is so important.
"He [Martin Luther King Jr.] was all about the interconnectedness of all human beings," said Thomas. "He just said "We are all interconnected, we are tied together in a garment of destiny, whatever happens to one, happens to others so it's really critically important that we take care of community."
"We take care of all the people regardless of background and regardless of their socioeconomic standard and also it's just really important to remind everybody from the youngest kids to the oldest of us that we all have a part to do and this is a day that we'll be able to do those things. "
This event is completely free and open to the public.
