Christmas will be here before you know it and one Heartland organization is putting on a free dinner for the community.

The 5th Annual Kirksville Community Christmas Dinner will be held Sunday, December 17, at 5:00 p.m. in the student center at Truman State University.

The dinner is intended for everyone in Kirksville and the surrounding area.

"What we do is we cook enough food for a thousand," said Marilyn Blickhan, committee member. "The committee gets together and we cook the meal. We have the full trimmings, turkey, ham, mashed potatoes. We play games so that families and individuals can win prizes. We make sure that every child gets a gift."

Monetary donations and volunteers are in need to support the dinner and gifts.
