Department of Defense says Missouri man among those killed in Syria suicide bombing
Manbi, Syria —
A Missouri man was killed in a suicide bombing in Syria on Wednesday, according to the Department of Defense.
Scott Wirtz, of St. Louis, was assigned to the Defense Intelligence Agency as an operations support specialist.
Also killed in the explosion in Syria were Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jonathan Farmer, 37, of Boynton Beach, Florida and Navy Chief Cryptologic Technician (Interpretive) Shannon Kent, 35, of upstate New York.
The Department of Defense says Wirtz, Farmer, and Kent died from wounds sustained from a suicide improvised explosive device in Manbij, Syria.
The department is continuing to investigate the incident.
