UPDATE: Agency man killed in Highway 34 crash

UPDATE:

An Agency man has died as a result of Monday's accident in Ottumwa.

The deadly crash happened around 9 a.m. on the westbound Highway 34 off-ramp. That's near the entrance to Izaak Walton League on Ottumwa's east end.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a commercial van was exiting Highway 34 when it failed to stop at the top of the off ramp.

It struck a pickup truck, which was traveling south on 90th Street. Both vehicles were severely damaged.

The driver of the pickup, 70-year-old Terry Sedore, was airlifted to Iowa City, where he later died.

The driver of the van, 65-year-old Rodney Everette Schultz Jr., or Burlington, was cited for Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device. Schultz declined treatment at the scene.

The van struck a pickup truck, which was traveling southbound. Both vehicles were severely damaged.

The driver of the pickup was airlifted to Iowa City with what troopers described to be serious injuries. The driver of the van, who was cited for Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device, declined treatment.

The Iowa State Patrol hasn't released the names of the drivers and is still investigating the incident.
