Driver injured after crashing into tree
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the driver injured in a Friday afternoon crash was Thomas R. Ireland, 55, of Kirksville.
Ireland was transported to Northeast Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.
Troopers say Ireland was headed south on Highway N about 4.5 miles southwest of Kirksville when he ran off the left side of the road, hit a sign and then collided with a tree around 3:10 p.m.
The Adair County Sheriff's Office and Kirksville Fire Department assisted at the scene.
According to the crash report, Ireland was wearing a seat belt.
The driver of an SUV was injured Friday afternoon after crashing into a tree near Kirksville.
Authorities responded to the crash just before 3:30 p.m. on state Highway N just off of Highway 11 south. The SUV was headed south on Highway N when the driver failed to navigate a curve and slammed into a tree off the left side of the highway.
No information was immediately available on the driver's condition, or the cause of the crash.
The scene was quickly cleared and traffic allowed through within a half hour.
