KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
UPDATE: Authorities have released the name of the driver killed in a rollover crash Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Gene McVey, 80, of Kirksville, died when the 1981 International truck he was driving ran off the road and overturned.
McVey was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene of a fatal truck rollover on Highway 63 north of Kirksville Tuesday afternoon.
It happened just before 3:30 p.m., about three miles north of Kirksville, right across the highway from the KTVO driveway.
Adair County Coroner Brian Noe confirmed that the driver died in the crash. The victim's name is not being released until his family is notified.
Witnesses told us the truck was southbound on 63, and the driver apparently did not see a pickup truck in front of him slowing to turn in to KTVO.
Another witness said the driver veered off the right side of the highway, where it overturned onto its top.
We're told the male driver was pinned under the truck.
Traffic on Highway 63 was reduced to one lane until the scene was cleared.
