Expensive concrete city trash can trashed
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
A pickup truck destroys an expensive City of Kirksville trash can, but it appears it was an accident.
It happened Wednesday afternoon in Downtown Kirksville.
The concrete trash can was sitting on the sidewalk at the southeast corner of the Adair County Law Enforcement Center.
Kirksville police told KTVO an elderly driver accidentally jumped the curb, knocking the concrete trash can over and breaking it into several pieces.
Because of the jolt of running up on the curb, police said the man did not realize he had struck the garbage can.
He then drove away. Officers later tracked him down.
The man has agreed to pay for a new trash can.
The city says that will cost him between $650 and $750.
