Fairfield Memorial Day ceremony draws big crowd
FAIRFIELD, Iowa —
Memorial Day ceremonies in Fairfield, Iowa drew a big crowd Monday morning.
The outdoor service kicked off at central park, right at the center of Fairfield Veteran of Foreign Wars' Avenue of Flags.
Monday’s ceremony featured the Fairfield Municipal Band, and guest speaker First Sgt. Charles C.J. Madison.
Madison, who is a 24-year veteran of the Iowa Army National Guard, described the diligent sacrifice of each veteran; men and women who work long hours for the good of our country.
Monday’s ceremony moved to the Jefferson County courthouse lawn, where musicians played taps to honor those who have served.
