Fairfield pledges to crack down on minors buying tobacco

The Fairfield Police Department says they will cite any retailer that tries to sell tobacco products to minors./KTVO.

The Fairfield Police Department is pledging to keep tobacco and nicotine products away from children.

The I-Pledge program is a partnership with the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division where they educate local retailers through an online course on how to refuse illegal tobacco, nicotine and vapor product sales to minors.

As part of this program, the Fairfield Police Department will conduct compliance checks on stores. Those who sell products to anyone underage will be cited and fined immediately.
