Fake bills surface in Henry County, sheriff says
MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa —
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of counterfeit bills this week.
Sheriff Rich McNamee tells KTVO there have been several reports recently of fake bills being passed on to local businesses. He said the sheriff’s office has received at least a half-dozen reports within the last few weeks.
Anyone suspicious of counterfeit money is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency.
In September, the Fairfield Police Department also received a report of counterfeit money that had been passed on to a local bank and dollar store.
At the time, a customer picked up a $20 bill from another businesses and used it to purchase merchandise without knowing it was fake.
