One person has died following a crash late Tuesday night along U.S. Highway 63, about a quarter mile south of the Davis County and Wapello County Line.

Iowa State Troopers at the scene said a pickup truck was headed north on Highway 63 just before 10:45 p.m. when it lost control on the icy roads.

The driver swerved onto the shoulder of the road, over-corrected, crossing back over the center line directly in front of an oncoming semi that was headed south on Highway 63.

The semi impacted the truck’s passenger side, nearly tearing the pickup in half.

Both vehicles entered the ditch along Highway 63, where the semi eventually jack-knifed and came to a rest in a driveway.

The driver of the pickup was ejected during the crash.
