Hampton Inn holds open house
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
It has been a long and drawn out process for one of Kirksville's newest hotels.
The Hampton Inn located on North Baltimore Street behind Ruby Tuesday started welcoming guests in February.
It was initially set to open in late 2017; however, delays due to inclement weather, a couple of small fires and a change in construction company led to the opening date being pushed back.
That is all in the past now, and the new 72-room building has now opened its doors to guests.
The owners, Hemant and Anita Patel, are hoping their investment will help boost the growth of both Kirksville and the surrounding area.
“What we’d like to do is definitely build on Kirksville town. As you know, Kirksville is growing and we’d like to do a lot more projects, a lot more innovative ideas. What we can do, we still have quite a bit of land in the back so were hoping maybe hosting a community event," said Anita Patel.
With Truman State University and A.T. Still University in town, the hotel is already taking reservations for parents' weekend and graduation.
Outside of college events, the Patels hope to bring in guests for the outdoor events that the city puts on throughout the spring and summer months.
The hotel also boasts a conference center, indoor heated pool, fitness center, laundry room for guests and conference rooms.
Members of the Kirksville City Council and Adair County Commissioners were invited to Monday's open house to get a view of the new building and all of its amenities.
