A court date for the man accused of killing Mollie Tibbetts has been cancelled.

Cristhian Bahena Rivera was set to be in a Poweshiek County courtroom Wednesday morning.

Attorneys for both sides were expected to huddle with the judge in what was described as a Trial Management Hearing.

However, last week, Judge Joel Yates determined that discovery in the case was proceeding and there was no reason to hold a hearing.

Either party can request one in the future.

Rivera is facing a First-Degree Murder charge in the death the July death of the University of Iowa student.

The next scheduled court date is a April 4, 2019, pre-trial conference, followed by a trial in mid-April.

Rivera remains in custody on a $5 million cash-only bond.
