Heartland bank robbed, suspect on the loose

A suspect is being sought after a Southeast Iowa bank was robbed Friday afternoon.

According to a press release from Jefferson County Attorney Tim Dille, the Pilot Grove Saving Bank in Packwood, Iowa, placed a call to the Jefferson County Law Enforcement Center at 1:13 p.m. reporting a robbery.

The robber was described as a tall and slender white male wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt. The man fled the bank on foot and headed east.

Investigators would not tell KTVO about any weapons or how much cash was taken.

This is an ongoing investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the FBI.

Assisting this investigation were the Fairfield Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, Wapello County Sheriff’s Office and Keokuk County Sheriff's Office.

The same bank was robbed in 2010.
