Heartland girl using 4-H Expo to help sick relative
OTTUMWA, Iowa —
Head, Heart, Hands, and Health.
The Wapello County 4-H Expo is underway this week, with all the animals and artwork out for full display.
Two Heartland youngsters who submitted art projects are headed to the state fair in Des Moines in a few weeks.
Abigail Goben made a prototype weighted blanket to help children cope with stress and anxiety.
She plans to make several of them and raffle them off for money, but she plans to donate all of her profits for a great cause.
“I made my blanket, it’s a weighted blanket, as a prototype for the other blankets that I’m going to make for my aunt Stacey. She has cancer and we are going to raffle them off and donate the money to her chemo treatment,” Goben explained.
The expo will conclude on this Saturday.
