A Packwood man is still waiting to find out if the Iowa Supreme Court will hear his appeal.

On Tuesday, the court said it was still considering whether to hear the appeal of Matt Murphy.

Murphy was convicted in 2017 of molesting a 12-year-old girl staying in his home.

He was sentenced to 25 years for Second Degree Sex Abuse

Murphy appealed the conviction on several grounds, including that media coverage of his arrest tainted the jury.

KTVO covered both Murphy's arrest and his trial.

The Iowa Court of Appeals denied his appeal. Murphy then asked the Supreme Court to take up his case.

There is no timeline for a decision from the court on the case.

Murphy remains in custody in the Iowa Medical and Classification Center.
