iPhone app leads Kirksville Police to burglary suspect

Cody Allen Williams

An iPhone app helps Kirksville Police locate stolen property and arrest a man on burglary charges.

According to the Adair County Sheriff's Office, 21-year-old Cody Allen Williams was arrested Friday afternoon and has been charged with burglary in the second degree, a class C felony.

Court documents indicate that on Friday, an iPhone app called FindPhone helped police locate property that was stolen from the victim's residence on the 900 block of S. Fifth Street sometime Thursday evening. Initially, police were looking for the victim's stolen MacBook and the FindPhone app used a GPS tracking device to find it.

That's when court documents indicate that the app's GPS tracking device led police to Williams' residence on the same block, where they found a large Panasonic TV that matched the serial number of a TV that was also reported stolen Thursday evening.

Cody Williams is being held in the Adair County Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond.
