The Kirksville Board of Education voted unanimously at Monday evening's meeting to reinstate full-day summer school.

The program was reduced to half-day summer school a couple years ago due to financial reasons.

Board members also say there was a lot to get done in a three-hour time period, but full days allow for more flexibility.

Members say full days were not only extremely popular among parents because it allowed their kids to be occupied during the day, but teachers who were looking for summer employment were also big fans of it.

The program will take place during the month of June 2018 for grades K through 8th grade.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Incorporating a school-based health center was another major topic of discussion.
