Kirksville, MO. — Cornerstone Church in Kirksville is hosting a community Thanksgiving dinner this Thursday.
This is the 4th annual community Thanksgiving dinner hosted by Cornerstone Church.
The idea was created five years ago.
Ladies ministry director Lora Shipley says they continue to host the event every year so people in town are able to congregate with others and not be alone on Thanksgiving day.
Shipley says this especially applies to college students and the elderly who may not have family in town or are unable to cook.
Shipley says they have had a wonderful outcome every year.
“ We serve around 250 people each year. We open our sanctuary doors and offer free a ham and turkey meal completely free to anyone. It’s not about income. It’s not about where you are in your life. It’s about being able to sit around a table with somebody so you’re not alone on Thanksgiving Day.”
The event is made possible by donations from Cornerstone Church members and other churches and businesses in the Heartland.
The dinner is from 11: 00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m November 22.
