KIRKSVILLE, Mo. — Firefighters were called to two house fires within minutes of each other.
Around 9:05 Friday night, there was a report of heavy smoke coming from an upstairs bedroom in a home on 1204 S. Porter in Kirksville.
Shortly after that, it was reported that flames were observed coming out of the attic.
Then at 9:15, there was another 911 call of a fire at a home at 1002 W. LaHarpe.
Preliminary reports indicate that the fire on Porter Street was considered out and under control around 9:30 p.m.
Fire fighters requested the assistance of the Red Cross for two adults who were displaced from that fire.
Mutual aid was requested to assist to control the two house fires.
Crews were on the scene for at least the next hour putting out hot spots.
No injuries were reported at either fire, and no cause has been identified.
