Kirksville's Ortech plant set to close next year
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
A northeast Missouri plant is closing its doors.
KTVO learned late Friday afternoon that the Ortech plant in Kirksville will shut down for good next year.
The facility's 12 employees will then be out of a job.
An employee, who wanted to remain anonymous, told KTVO there is not enough production to keep the plant open.
The facility makes automotive components like door handles, lock sets, switches and heater parts.
Employees were told the plant will close sometime after February 2018.
When KTVO asked Carolyn Chrisman, director of Kirksville Regional Economic Development Incorporated, if she was aware of the upcoming plant closing, she told us she could not comment.
The company is located at 2806 Industrial Drive in Kirksville.
