KPD issues fireworks ordinance reminder
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
As the Fourth of July approaches, one local police force is reminding citizens of fireworks rules and regulations.
In Kirksville, fireworks went on sale on Wednesday, June 20. But, they cannot be legally discharged until Saturday, June 30.
Kirksville police say the discharging of fireworks can then continue through Thursday, July 5.
Individuals may only set off fireworks between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. on their own property.
However, if a complaint is received and verified by police for disturbance of the peace of surrounding neighbors, a citation may be issued by the responding officer and the discharging of fireworks will immediately cease.
In addition, it is unlawful for any person to throw fireworks out of vehicles, under vehicles, at people or on any public street or public place within the City of Kirksville.
