One northeast Missouri organization got a very generous donation.

The Kirksville - Protect Our Pets group got a big surprise last week when they got a $1,000 check courtesy of Kirksville Motor Company and Toyota.

KV-POP Is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to community outreach for the benefit of the area's pet dogs and cats.

President Bridget Thomas said that this money will further help the organization with future projects.

"We want to thank all of our supporters. This is a grassroots organization, we have no money coming in from outside of this area 30 miles around Kirksville. So we thank all of our supporters for getting behind us from the beginning and continuing to support us."

KV-POP'S signature program is their annual spring spay/neuter campaign.

This year 110 pets were fixed in March and April thanks to special coupons issued by the organization.

KV-POP's annual meeting is coming up on September 13 at 7 p.m. at the Adair County Health Department.
