A multi-car pileup on Baltimore Street in Kirksville sent two to the hospital Monday evening.

While traveling northbound near Pierce Street, an SUV hit the car in front of it, causing three more cars to be hit in the process.

It happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. A total of five cars were involved.

A Kirksville police officer at the scene told KTVO at least seven people were involved in the crash.

One person was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The officer said the second person drove himself or herself to Northeast Regional Medical Center.

It was not immediately clear what caused the crash.

The KPD officer said slick conditions could have played a part in the crash.
