Name of hunter killed in Macon County hunting accident released
MACON COUNTY, Mo. —
Investigators are now releasing more details about a deadly hunting accident that happened in Macon County over the weekend.
Around 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, the Macon County Sheriff’s Office was called to a hunting cabin located in the area of Macon County Route J and State Highway 3 west of Atlanta.
The report was there was a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim has been identified as Charles T. Bark, 70, of Marengo, Illinois.
After investigating the incident, deputies concluded Bark and other hunters were preparing to go hunting when a rifle was accidentally discharged by another hunter.
Bark was fatally struck by the discharged bullet. He was pronounced deceased on scene by Macon County Coroner Brian Hayes.
An autopsy has been scheduled for later in the week.
