One person displaced after morning apartment fire in Kirksville

One person has been displaced following a morning apartment fire in Kirksville.

That blaze broke out just before 6 a.m. Monday at the Callyn Heights Apartment Complex on West Elizabeth Street.

Nancy Briley lived in the apartment. She made it out safely.

According to the Kirksville Fire Department, when firefighters arrived on scene, heavy smoke and flames were visible on the back side of the building.

Crews worked to get the fire under control by 6:30 a.m.

In all, 13 firefighters battled the blaze.

Personnel from the Adair County Ambulance District and Kirksville Police Department were also on scene.

At this time, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
