UPDATE: Ottumwa search warrants were drug related

Ottumwa officers and troopers with the Iowa State Patrol search a residence at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Elm Street Thursday morning/KTVO

UPDATE:

Neighboring law enforcement agencies are investigating a drug-related incident in Ottumwa.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office executed search warrants Thursday morning at separate homes; one at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Elm Street, and another on Chester Avenue behind the south side McDonald's.

Jefferson County Attorney Tim Dille told KTVO he is not aware of any arrests yet, however, he did say both warrants are drug related.

The Ottumwa Police Department assisted with both search warrants Thursday.

"We just assisted them to where they needed to go, and since it's their investigation, we don't want to make any comments about what the search warrants were for this morning," said Police Chief Tom McAndrew.

Sheriff Greg Morton was not immediately available Thursday to comment on the investigation.

Southeast Iowa authorities executed two search warrants Thursday morning.

Ottumwa police officers and Southeast Iowa deputies searched a residence on Chester Avenue around 7 a.m. Thursday.

Around the same time, Ottumwa officers and troopers with the Iowa State Patrol searched another residence at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Elm Street.

Police Chief Tom McAndrew said these warrants are not connected to a shooting reported on Second Street in Ottumwa around 1 a.m. Thursday.

Police say no information concerning the execution of either search warrant will be released at this time.

KTVO will provide more details as they become available.
