Organization collecting funds for Adopt-A-Child Christmas Party
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
The holidays will soon be upon us and one Heartland organization is once again raising funds for the annual Adopt-A-Child Christmas Party.
The Kirksville Loyal order of the Moose and Women of the Moose organization has started collecting for the the party.
This fundraiser benefits 300 to 400 area children for the holidays.
This event will be held on Saturday, November 18, at the Moose Lodge in Kirksville.
Anyone is welcome to come free of charge.
The Moose kitchen will be serving their regular dining menu in the evening and there will be entertainment following the auction.
"It takes a lot of money to put on a party like this for the kids and their parents, so Adopt-A-Child gives a gift to children who maybe wouldn't have had a gift if it wasn't for this program, " organizer Melani Kelsey said. "The community members actually buy the gifts and give them, but once in a while they get people that don't follow through with their adoption and the money for this fundraiser goes for that, plus all the expenses that it takes to put on a party like this."
If you are unable to attend, but would like to give an auction item or donate monetarily, you can leave your donation at Aladdin Glass in Kirksville through November 18.
