Oskaloosa feed plant still burning 24 hours later

Crews battle flames in Oskaloosa Sunday at the International Ingredient Corporation on Highway 23/KTVO

An Oskaloosa feed plant was still burning 24 hours after a Sunday morning fire.

Oskaloosa firefighters were called to the blaze at International Ingredient Corporation on Highway 23 around 11 a.m. Sunday.

Capt. Daniel Hoy told KTVO there was still an active fire inside the plant just after 11 a.m. Monday. Hoy said it's more practical to let the property finish burning than to flood it.

He added that no one was injured in the fire, however, most of the factory is destroyed.

Nine different fire departments, including Pella and Ottumwa assisted Oskaloosa firefighters Sunday. Crews didn't clear the scene until 7 p.m. Sunday.

When KTVO called the fire department Monday morning, Chief Mark Neff was still on scene. Hoy said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
