OSKALOOSA, Iowa — An Oskaloosa mother accused of murdering her daughter wants her second trial moved out of Mahaska County.
Alicia Ritenour is scheduled to stand trial for First-Degree Murder in March.
In 2014, she was convicted of killing her 17-month-old daughter, Ava.
Last month, that conviction was overturned and a new trial ordered.
Now, Ritenour's attorneys want that trial moved to either Clarke or Lee counties.
Court documents cite extensive media coverage of Ritenour's case from the time of her arrest until now.
KTVO is among the media outlets that have followed the case closely.
In fact, the filing specifically cites negative comments about Ritenour on KTVO Facebook posts about the case.
The defense believes that most of that media coverage has portrayed Ritenour in a negative light.
Prosecutors have resisted that motion, but arguing if the trial must be moved, Warren or Madison counties make more sense.
A judge hasn't ruled on the motion. The trial is currently set for March 5.
