KTVO

An Ottumwa mother accused of killing her daughter now has a trial date.

Kelsie Thomas will face a jury on a charge of First-Degree Murder on Sept 10.

The trial is expected to last about ten days.

Thomas was arrested in July of last year after five-year old Cloe Chandler was found strangled in the family home.

Investigators say she was intentionally strangled

But in court documents Thomas says the child accidentally hung herself trying to fashion a swing in her closet.

She remain in custody in lieu of a $500,000 cash-only bond.
