The City of Bridges had a Mixer event Thursday morning.

The event is similar to a job fair, but people looking for a job actually sit down with employers and discuss the job and qualifications.

The event was free and open to anyone who was looking for a job or change careers.

Organizers say that more job positions are available around the area.

“It’s the same employers, but right now with the unemployment rate being at 2.2 percent statewide, there are more jobs that we have available that we actually have people to fill them up. With IowaWORKS and Future Ready Iowa initiative, that’s the whole purpose which is we’re trying to upskill Iowa’s incumbent population that way we can get them into skill for meaningful jobs,” said Rich Kennedy, Iowa Workforce Development.

IowaWORKS will also host a job fair on February 2nd at the Quincy Place Mall from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
