Outpatient infusion center now open at NEMO hospital
UNIONVILLE, Mo. —
One northeast Missouri hospital is taking an extra step to help keep its community members healthy.
An outpatient infusion center is now open at Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville.
In the past, those that needed treatments may have had to drive to places like Kirksville or farther.
Carrie Hines, a pharmacy technician at the hospital, says thanks to this center, care can now be received close by.
"It's important so that people in our community don't have to drive a long distance to get these medications."
Examples of different services provided at this infusion center include: antibiotic infusions, wound care, blood transfusions, iron infusions and prolia - which is used to treat osteoporosis.
The center is open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Putnam County Memorial Hospital.
