Late on Sunday, the Iowa State Patrol released the names of the two adults involved in a Friday afternoon crash in Van Buren County.

The driver, who was killed, is identified as Mindy Raye Johnson, 26, of Burlington, Iowa. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other adult passenger was April Irene Maul, 36, also of Burlington. She was injured in the crash.

Troopers said Johnson wrecked the SUV she was driving at 3:30 p.m. Friday on Highway 2 just east of Cantril.

Investigators said Johnson veered onto the gravel shoulder on the right side of the highway.

She then overcorrected, lost control and went off the left side of Highway 2 where the SUV overturned and came to rest on its wheels in a cornfield.

Five children were passengers in the vehicle. Eight-year-old triplets, a five-year-old and a three-year-old were riding in the SUV. The patrol did not release their names or genders.

All six survivors were taken to hospitals for treatment of injuries.

The crash report states that Johnson and Maul were both wearing their seat belt. At least three of the children were not buckled up. The report does not indicate if the other two were restrained.

A family member of Maul's has set up a fund to help pay for medical expenses, transportation costs and other necessities.
